A new work that will chart the poet’s journey from above a London pub to the Spanish Steps in Piazza di Spagna, Rome exploring attitudes to class, fame and illness. Keats, the ‘Vulgar Cockney’, is reimagined as a doctor in contemporary London before his true calling takes him to the eternal city.

We launched ‘A Masque for Keats’ at Keats-Shelley House, in February with a special preview to follow in June. It will be the third and final work in a trilogy of verse-dramas that offer contemporary perspectives on the lives of the romantic poets in Italy.
