I’m launching a new work at Keats-Shelley House in Rome, 28 February, 2026. It will be the third and final work in a trilogy of verse-dramas that offer contemporary perspectives on the lives of the romantic poets in Italy. ‘A Masque for Keats’ will chart the poet’s journey from above a London pub to the Spanish Steps in Piazza di Spagna, Rome and will explore attitudes to class, fame and mental health.

In the lead up I’m writing a series of short, lyric essays charting the last days of the poet in Rome, describing why I feel an affinity with him, what troubles me about him and, considering so much as already been written, why I’m making this new work on John Keats. All essays are free to read on Substack.
