A MASQUE FOR KEATS – Coming soon

We launched ‘A Masque for Keats’ at Keats-Shelley House, in February with a special preview to follow in June. It will be the third and final work in a trilogy of verse-dramas that offer contemporary perspectives on the lives of the romantic poets in Italy.

This new work will chart the poet’s journey from above a London pub to the Spanish Steps in Piazza di Spagna, Rome and will explore attitudes to class, fame and mental health.

I’m writing a series of short, lyric essays charting the last days of the poet in Rome, describing why I feel an affinity with him, what troubles me about him and, considering so much as already been written, why I’m making this new work on John Keats.

All essays are free to read on Substack. Consider becoming a subscriber to receive updates, or become a paid subscriber to support the work in its development and receive extracts and audio of ‘A Masque for Keats’
