Friends,
Each month I’ll be featuring a track from the back catalogue, a work in progress or a new release. This month I’m posting a short section from ‘Body 115’, an early page reading recorded before the work had been developed into a full, one hour verse-drama.
Daniel Richards, a former professor at the Università degli Studi di Milano had seen me read around 30 minutes of what would later become ‘Body 115’ at the Teatro Filodrammatici in Milan and invited me to his studio, Networks, to get a version of it down on tape. He also had these very kind words to say about it:
‘Jan’s performance is moving and mesmerising. He paints an animated tapestry of contemporary life that taps into the fragmented roots of our collective past to evoke our simultaneously objective yet illusionary present. It projects us toward a future that is dream and desire, ungraspable yet apparently concrete, underpinned by a yearning to escape the only partly understood bonds that still tether us to our history and define our personality and our contemporary dilemma.’
BODY 115 will run at THE HOPE THEATRE, Islington from 20-26 August.
